Joanna Beray Ingco was born in San Francisco, CA and raised in Los Angeles.

Growing up in LA and nurtured by a rigorous emphasis on academics, she was on track to be a biologist, but swiftly pivoted after discovering Stanley Kubrick’s A Clockwork Orange and Larry Clark’s KIDS at 16. At CalArts, she studied music, performance, dance, and production, with a primary focus on Fine Art. Joanna blends elements of her early background in math and science with her passions for film, history, and graphic design.

Her multi-disciplinary practice involves sculpture, video art, and performative exploration, but painting is the heart of her work. She believes in an approach that is firmly conceptually based, while staying in the pursuit and preservation of aesthetics. Several series reflect ideas of memory, time, technology, perspective, and desire.

Joanna currently lives and works in New York.
